Biography

Sherry Yu is a litigator with broad experience in complex commercial litigation and white-collar defense in state and federal courts.  They represent clients on both the plaintiff and defense sides in disputes involving contracts, securities, antitrust, derivatives, and labor and employment, including mass arbitrations and class actions, at every stage from drafting demand letters through trial.  Sherry has also represented clients before government agencies and Congress in sensitive investigations, and has conducted internal investigations and policy reviews.  A native speaker of English and Mandarin Chinese, Sherry is conversational in Cantonese and Wu Chinese (Shanghainese), has advanced proficiency in Japanese, and intermediate proficiency in French and Latin.  They regularly leverage these language skills to serve multilingual and multicultural clients.

Represented multiple publicly traded companies in federal securities class actions alleging IPO-related misstatements and omissions.

Represented a major sports organization in a breach-of-contract dispute.

Represented a company in a Section 225 action in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

Represented one of the largest privately held companies in litigation alleging fraudulent transfer in the Southern District of New York.

Represented a national cosmetics retailer in a New York state court class action alleging false advertising.

Represented the board of directors of an S&P 100 financial services company in a New York state court class action alleging breach of fiduciary duty.

Represented a global insurance company in a California state court class action alleging breach of fiduciary duty.

Represented a major financial services company in an antitrust matter alleging monopolization.

Represented multiple companies in actions brought by former employees alleging workplace discrimination and retaliation.

Represented individual plaintiffs in a mass arbitration against a major video-game distribution company alleging antitrust violations.

Represented a Hong Kong company in a cross-border contract dispute against a major information technology company.

Represented a nonprofit organization in a Congressional investigation into alleged undue influence over lawmaking.

Represented a business management firm in a U.S. Department of Justice investigation into alleged tax fraud.

Education

Sherry received a B.A. (cum laude) from Washington University in St. Louis, an M.S. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a J.D. (cum laude) from Georgetown University Law Center.  In law school, Sherry competed on Georgetown’s top-10 nationally ranked Trial Advocacy team, served as a student attorney in the Criminal Justice Clinic, and interned for Judge Tonya Jones Bosier of the D.C. Superior Court.  Before joining Aegis Law Group, Sherry practiced in the litigation department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP and at the litigation boutique Morrow Ni LLP.
